Educating Minds. Reaching Hearts.

Home & School Tutoring provides your homeschooling family with a unique, engaging educational option! We offer an alternative path to normal homeschool co-ops: Our goal is to help add structure and support to every family’s homeschooling journey.
Our Approach

At Home & School Tutoring Pods, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive academically and personally. Through collaborative and engaging activities in small-group settings, we create a safe and loving social setting where learners can develop their academic abilities and confidence.

Our approach is centered around age and grade-level appropriate instruction in Reading (ELA-English/Language Arts) and Mathematics. In addition to foundational skills, we integrate thematic units that explore topics related to seasons, holidays, and special interests. These units are designed to encompass a range of subjects, including Reading, Science, and Art, providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.

Our team of tutors utilizes a diverse range of curriculum resources, including but not limited to homeschool curriculums like The Good and The Beautiful, various phonics programs, and custom-made teaching materials. By tailoring our instruction to meet the needs of our learners and employing innovative teaching methods, we strive to empower students to reach their full potential and cultivate a lifelong love for learning.

Each learning pod is led by a highly-qualified, experienced teacher in a small group, micro-school setting. The student:teacher ratio varies, depending on enrollment, but is never more than 12:1 for the K-1 pod, 10:1 for the 2-4 pod, and 5:1 for the 5-7 pod. Students are grouped according to age, grade level, and abilities.

Pods meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 10AM to 2PM at First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains. Each pod meets in their own designated classroom, where students can flourish through social interaction with peers, learning to follow rules and routines in a group setting, and strengthening their confidence and academic success.

Who We Serve

We serve any homeschooling family, new or seasoned, in Knoxville and all surrounding areas. We currently have three pod options available: Lower Elementary (K-1), Upper Elementary (2-4), and Middle School (5-7).  We recently grew our team of tutors and pod options, so we are thrilled to offer more options for our families. Homeschoolers must be registered under an umbrella school or other local system according to state homeschooling laws. Parents are still required to be the main educator, as reported to the state.

Benefits

We lessen the load for parents! Our drop-off program adds structure to your homeschooling routine. The time your child spends learning with us each week can be counted toward the state homeschooling requirement for attendance. Also, every student enrolled gets individualized, professional guidance.

Students will be learning cooperatively with classmates in a fun, loving, and safe environment. They will receive the extra attentiveness that is unavailable in a regular classroom setting. And most importantly, they will gain independence and confidence in their own learning abilities.
